Sugar: Major Factor For Cancer

0

Dr. Joseph Mercola | Mercola.com

A major European study has found that women with high blood sugar levels are at an increased risk of developing cancer.

High blood sugar levels can be caused by eating too much sugary food, and also by disease conditions such as diabetes.

The study, which looked at 64,500 people over the course of 13 years, linked high blood sugar with cancers of the pancreas, skin, womb, and urinary tract. High blood sugar was also linked to breast cancer for women under 49. (more…)

Louis Pasteur And the Myth of Pasteurization

source: Wellness directory of Minnesota

If you surf the web, no doubt you will find dozens of web sites singing the praises of Louis Pasteur.

Here is something we found at: http://www.accessexcellence.org/AB/BC/Louis_Pasteur.html

If one were to choose among the greatest benefactors of humanity, Louis Pasteur would certainly rank at the top. He solved the mysteries of rabies, anthrax, chicken cholera, and silkworm diseases, and contributed to the development of the first vaccines. He debunked the widely accepted myth of spontaneous generation, thereby setting the stage for modern biology and biochemistry. He described the scientific basis for fermentation, wine-making, and the brewing of beer. Pasteur’s work gave birth to many branches of science, and he was singlehandedly responsible for some of the most important theoretical concepts and practical applications of modern science.

Pasteur’s achievements seem wildly diverse at first glance, but a more in-depth look at the evolution of his career indicates that there is a logical order to his discoveries. He is revered for possessing the most important qualities of a scientist: the ability to survey all the known data and link the data for all possible hypotheses, the patience and drive to conduct experiments under strictly controlled conditions, and the brilliance to uncover the road to the solution from the results. Water Fast: Day 3

0

I decided this Wednesday to do a water-only fast that, I hope, will last for a total of seven full days. I have a variety of reasons for doing this; the primary reason is the detox benefits that go along with starving the body of caloric intake for a prolonged period of time.

I can feel that my body has reached the end of the Liver’s glycogen stores and is now resorting to ketosis (the burning of fats) for energy. This is signified by sluggishness due to the body’s inability to obtain energy from stored glycogen. This process begins on the second day of the fast and will last for the remainder of this third day.

What the body is unable to obtain by ketosis it obtains by catabolizing, which is the process of breaking down muscle tissue and utilizing the amino acids therin. On day 2 of the fast, between 2 and 3 ounces of muscle tissue are utilized; after this the body begins to conserve the muscle fibers to such an extent that the body could go for a full month without food and only lose 1/4 pound of muscle.

If I can make it through the weekend without breaking the fast, I plan on doing an extensive detoxification regimen next week involving a colonic irrigation. Colonic irrigation is essential for the detoxification to continue unhindered, since the toxins of the colon block the exit of the toxins released by the ketosis process.

If this fast is anything like previous fasts, then I expect to have more energy and feel younger when all is said and done. There is no other process, that I know of, that is as effective as a water fast at accomplishing the cleansing, detoxification and renewal of the body.

Beware of the Soy “health food” Hype

0

In recent years, it has become widely accepted that Soy, prepared in any way, is a health food. It is thought that Soy is an alternative to animal-based foods. Proponents of this ideology often cite the “fact” that Asian cultures, notorious for their excellent health, consume a diet rich in Soy.

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth, these beliefs about the Asian use of Soy are simply lies propagated by the very same people who fill their pockets with the money of the misguided individuals who want to improve their health.

Scientific research has linked Soy to a variety of health problems including: cancer, brain damage, hormonal imbalances, thyroid problems, kidney stones, sexual dysfunction and behavior problems. The following article from Dr. Mercola covers most of the information available regarding the dangers of Soy. (more…)

FDA doesn’t even check to see if food labels are accurate…

0

Its amazing how many people trust the government health programs. The food companies may, very well, have been lying to us about alot more than one would assume.

Apparently the FDA only checks to see if a label is on the box; it doesn’t even check the food itself to see if the label is accurate! So there’s no way of really knowing based upon some label.

Food Labels May be Inaccurate, Despite FDA Inspections

Excerpted from Mercola.com

An FDA report on efforts to get rid of misleading nutrition and health claims on food labels is misleading itself.

While the FDA report implies that more than 28,000 food labels were checked in a 14-month period, they only checked to see whether or not the Nutrition Facts panel was present, rather than whether or not it was accurate.

Bruce Silverglade, the legal director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), argued that “the accuracy of Nutrition Facts labels and misleading health-related claims … have been the casualty of not only budget cuts, but a lack of commitment on the part of the Agency to fulfill its mission.”

He went on to say that the FDA should crack down on inaccurate labeling such as deceptive “0 trans fat” claims and misleading “made with real fruit” statements, rather than simply glancing at labels.

CSPI urged Congress to increase funding to the FDA and direct the FDA to make systematic supermarket sweeps and accuracy tests of Nutrition Facts labels.

The Health Benefits of Water Fasting

Fasting is an exceptionally ancient, and powerful, approach to healing many common disease conditions. It allows the body to rest, detoxify, and to heal. During fasting the body moves into the same kind of detoxification cycle that it normally enters during sleep. It uses its energy during a fast, not for digesting food, but for cleansing the body of accumulated toxins and healing any parts of it that are ill. As a fast progresses the body consumes everything that it can that is not essential to bodily functioning. This includes bacteria, viruses, fibroid tumors, waste products in the blood, any build up around the joints, and stored fat. The historical record indicates that human beings are evolutionarily designed to fast. It is an incredibly safe approach to healing and the body knows how to do it very well. (more…)

How You Are Being Fooled at the Meat Counter

0

The meat industry is utterly corrupt and contemptible. Beware of eating meats from supermarkets and restaurants.

source: mercola.com health blog
Ever wonder why the packaged meat you see at the grocery store almost always looks red? To prevent that pinkish red from fading to brown as it sits at the market waiting to be sold, the meat industry is now infusing its products with carbon monoxide as a “pigment fixative,” according to this awesome piece in today’s Washington Post.

Although the industry claims the practice is harmless, many critics, including me, are quite concerned the FDA has violated its own rules by allowing producers to taint their meat with carbon monoxide without reviewing the practice formally based on human health concerns.

In fact, Tyson Foods, one of three American producers, just opened a $100 million manufacturing facility in Texas to produce these modified atmosphere packaged meats, according to experts.

The loophole that allows company to petition the FDA for special dispensation at the expense of your health: The generally recognized as safe regulatory category called GRAS that allows companies to move forward without a public review or formal governmental approval. (By the way, the European Union banned this practice some four years ago.)

The trick about meat, especially in light of this news: Where it comes from and how it’s cooked is the difference-maker. That’s why you should avoid most meat from grain-fed cattle — pumped up with antibiotics and hormones — sold at the grocery store.

Trophology: The Science of Food Combining

2

Trophology is a topic that is, for the most part, foreign to the western world. The founder of modern western medicine, Heroditus, knew of the importance of food combinations; these ideas seem to have been “lost” by mainstream western medicine.

One of the most important factors in determining one’s overall mental and physical health is diet. Diet is, however, more complicated than simply eating a certain amount of certain foods. It is absolutely essential that these foods be combined in a way which can easily be digestible by the stomach. (more…)
